The Bath Tub Test

During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director "How do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized?"

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."

"No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"

Be honest with yourself. Were you thinking of using the bucket, also?

This is not a sanity test. It is a test to determine how much you are under social control, instead of thinking for yourself. "

Getting your head into a different kind of reality than the 'spoon-fed' pablum that is passed out on corpmedia is a little challenging at times: friends will not believe you, and when you object to the highly consumptive/ego-driven/conspicuous consumption lifestyle, you are bound to lose a few friends, who will cling to the old paradigm like their life depends on it. In return, you will get scorn, denial, and a much smaller circle of friends. But, as times change in ways that seem to be evolving, you will have the good sense, in financial, social and political terms, to pull the plug correctly and not get sucked into the 'framed decisions,' which are put before you.

Any questions??
