A pineal gland kriya

Sit, either on the floor with legs crossed, or in a chair. Be sure that your spine is straight.

Raise your hands above your head and parallel with the floor, one hand palm up and one palm down, with the fingers of each hand locked with the fingers of the other. Try to pull the hands apart, while taking long, deep breaths, for one or two minutes.

Then, release the finger lock, bring your hands to your knees, and touch your index fingers to their thumb tips, forming a small circle. Extend your other three fingers, while holding the palms facing away from you, as in the illustration. In this position, keep your mind free of thought for one minute.

The illustrated mudra is call the gyan mudra. It is useful for treating mental disorders, sleep disorders (for both excessive and decreased sleep), weak memory and hot-tempered individuals. Used alone, it needs to be done for minimum 30 minutes per day. By incorporating the mudra into a krya, we can get similar results in less time.

Raise your hands over your head, with your fingers intertwined and your thumbs apart, pointing behind you and parallel to the floor. Hold this position one minute, as you breathe deeply, as described previously. Then, return to the position with your hands to the knees, index fingers to thumb tips, fingers extended and facing away from you, as before, and free your mind of thought for one minute or so.

Extend your arms over your head, with your fingers clasped and your two index fingers extended, pointing toward the sky. Pull your hands apart, but resist the pull, by not releasing the clasp. As you pull, breathe deeply for a minute or two.

Then, release the clasp, bring your hands to your knees, and touch your index fingers to their thumb tips, forming a small circle. Extend your other three fingers, while holding the palms facing away from you. In this position, keep your mind free of thought for one minute.

Tomorrow, we will build on the above kriya, by adding a new breathing skill.

You need to introduce these kriyas, slowly; so that you become familiar and comfortable with them, as I introduce refinements. Practice, practice, practice... the effects are accumulative and I promise noticeable results, within two or three weeks

Any questions??
